Communications Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Scope of This Policy
This policy explains how Healing Minds Psychiatry communicates with patients and website visitors. We may communicate with you by phone, email, SMS text messages, and WhatsApp, depending on the contact information and preferences you provide.
Consent to Receive Messages
By providing your phone number and opting in, you agree to receive appointment-related messages from our practice, such as reminders, scheduling, and follow-up communications. Message frequency varies depending on your care and interactions with our office.
Message and data rates may apply according to the terms of your mobile carrier.
How to Opt Out
You may opt out of our messages at any time:
- SMS Text Messages: Reply STOP to stop receiving text messages, or reply HELP for assistance.
- WhatsApp and Email: You may opt out at any time by notifying our office.
Opting out of these communication channels does not affect your care or your ability to schedule appointments through other means.
Not for Emergencies
Our messaging channels are not monitored continuously and must never be used for emergencies. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988). Please refer to our Emergency and Crisis Policy for more information.
Privacy and Risks of Electronic Communication
Standard SMS text messages and email are not fully encrypted. Despite the safeguards we use, electronic communication carries some risk that messages could be intercepted or accessed by unauthorized parties. To reduce this risk, we limit the health details included in messages.
By initiating or consenting to these channels, you accept this risk. WhatsApp messages are encrypted in transit by Meta, but they are stored on your device, which may be accessible to others who use it. For a complete description of how we protect your information, please review our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices and our Privacy Policy.
No Marketing Messages Without Consent
We do not send marketing or promotional messages without your separate consent. The messages you receive are related to your care and scheduling unless you have specifically agreed to receive other communications.
Message Delivery
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. We cannot guarantee that every message will be delivered or received on time.
